World Alzheimer’s Day!
World Alzheimer’s Day!
World Alzheimer’s Day is Monday, September 21. This year’s campaign is “The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do.” I have a slight twist on that message: “The More You Know, The More You Can Do.”
While it’s never too late to start a memory improvement program, the choices we make in our younger and middle years profoundly affect our long-term brain health and function. Proactive lifestyle habits are among our strongest tools for protecting the brain and reducing Alzheimer’s risk. We encourage you to discuss brain health with your clinician and consider requesting a baseline cognitive assessment. Education is power.
In honor of World Alzheimer’s Month, we’re highlighting yoga – a dynamic, accessible practice for longevity that you can do almost anywhere. Yoga can be as simple as a breathing exercise that brings awareness to your mind, body, and spirit.

3 Ways Yoga Supports Brain Health
Reduces Stress and Cortisol: Chronic stress is linked to memory impairment and accelerated brain aging. Yoga helps lower cortisol levels, protecting the hippocampus – the brain’s memory center.
Boosts Brain Plasticity: Dynamic movement and breathwork stimulate the growth of new neural connections, keeping your mind sharp and adaptable.
Improves Sleep Quality: Yoga promotes the restorative sleep your brain needs to clear out beta-amyloid plaques.
And these are just a few of the ways yoga supports overall health.
We’re preparing a milestone White Paper on how to maximize health as we age. We’ll share it with you soon as part of our World Alzheimer’s Month resources.
Moreover, our research is entering its next phase: mapping how movement, breathwork, and self-awareness rewire the brain – and delivering these evidence-based tools directly to the communities that need them most.
Your support keeps this work moving forward. It funds the research. It sustains the training. And it ensures that communities have access.
Please make your gift today. We can’t thank you enough. Namaste.
