My mother was from New Zealand and she was a gregarious person. She wanted to be a fashion designer when she came to America however never happened. We traveled all over Europe and she came to visit me in Boston and we did things in Boston. When she was 60 years, she went back to New Zealand and went tandem paragliding over the ocean and then she said she flew over these people and she said I’m 60 if I can do it, you could do it Unfortunately, she ended up in a nursing home for five years when she was in her 80s and it was a horrible nursing home. She was always dehydrated and I’m a nurse and told the nurses that my mother was dehydrated and they said how do you know I said she told me and I couldn’t get her out of there unfortunately however she still had some parts of her memory left because when I relayed that story to her about telling the people that she was 60 she told me they were Dutch we had gone all over Europe and I miss her because we were like good friends

Mom, Mother's Day looks different without you here. Two years have passed, but your love and spirit lives in me every day! Watching how Alzheimer's changed you your last few years was one of the hardest journeys for me. Today I honor you and I thank you for the gift of being your daughter.
