Drums Alive® Session
Ten lucky winners will get to experience a Drums Alive group session led by BLTT graduate, Janet Wise-Thomas, LCSW, BLS. Drums Alive combines the benefits of a traditional physical fitness program with the brain-boosting benefits of music and rhythm. Drums Alive is a program that fosters a healthy balance– physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.
Rhythm and movement in the form of drumming and dance are ancient techniques for raising energy, inducing ecstatic experience, as well as providing a sense of community. Emile Jaques-Dalcroze recognized that musical rhythm depended absolutely on motor consciousness for its fullest expression. That expression is found in the powerful rhythms and dynamic dance of Drums Alive.
Janet Wise-Thomas, LCSW, BLS
Janet is a graduate of Columbia University with over 25 years of direct services and administrative experience. Janet has been certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) to conduct group fitness as a certified Zumba instructor. She is also certified as a Silver Sneakers Fitness Instructor. In 2020, she became certified as a Drums Alive Fitness Instructor.
Janet was a fitness instructor for seniors and young adults under the auspices of the NYC Parks & Recreation’s “Shape Up NYC” program, and at Emblem Health’s Neighborhood Care programs in New York City. She has also taught Cardio Drumming and cardio fitness to seniors.
Five lucky winners will get a 60-minute zoom session with Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Annette Derovanessian, BLS. Participants will explore practical tips to optimize diet as we go into the holidays. Stress management that ties into the holiday season. Keep your weight balanced. The social aspect of the holiday season: stress.
Annette Derovanessian, Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, BLS
Annette received her training in 2016 from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program in New York. She also holds her bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and is a Certified Public Accountant. Her education has equipped her with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. She further received her health coaching certification from The International Association for Health Coaches in 2019. She published her first cookbook on healthy family recipes in March of 2019.
She is a mother, wife, and enjoys creative healthy cooking and outdoor activities. Becoming an integrative nutrition health coach ultimately allowed her to combine her passion for health and wellness with her love for helping people reach their goals.
