ARPF at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference 2024
By Kirti Khalsa, ARPF CEO
At the end of July 2024, ARPF participated in the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The weather was quite nice although, as is typical of the NE at the time, hot and humid.
Our research partner from UCLA, Helen Lavretsky, MD presented a poster about our joint study called The Pink Brain Project™, which showed that women at risk for Alzheimer’s can have their memory improved.
Another of our partners, The FINGER Study, presented data from our ongoing study on quality of life and Spiritual Fitness.
Finally, ARPF volunteers staffed our booth and helped share our work of 31 years with attendees from all over the world, physicians and researchers alike.
The conference was very interesting as it covered areas so varied, from vaccines and latest drugs to lifestyle and even prevention. Notably, The Lancet Commission released its newest report on Dementia Prevention, Intervention, and Care 2024, where they state that “Overall, around 45% of cases of dementia are potentially preventable by addressing 14 modifiable risk factors at different stages during the life course.”
Our booth was very well attended and our scientifically-proven message of the 4 Pillars of Alzheimer’s Prevention®, as well as our strong research portfolio on lifestyle modalities to maximize brain function and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s is now considered an established milestone.
I want to especially thank our fantastic volunteers: Eve Adler, RN and Kelly Callahan for their professionalism, enthusiasm and interest in this important topic. It was such a pleasure working with them.
